Startup readings
On a heat pump or AC, startup means checking the refrigerant charge by superheat or subcooling, the airflow, and the temperature change across the coil. On a furnace, it means gas pressure, temperature rise and combustion, set for Denver's altitude. The quote should promise you a copy of the readings.
Two warranties
- Parts come from the manufacturer. The term is often 10 years if the equipment is registered in time after install, and shorter if it isn't.
- Labor is the installer's promise to fix it for free. It varies a lot between companies, and it's the one that pays for the service call.
A line that says "10-year warranty" without saying which one is incomplete. The quote should give both terms and say who registers the equipment.

A name and number for service, their hours, and whether warranty visits come with a trip charge.
